This volunteer-based group was established in January 2026. It exists both for the enjoyment of the musicians in it and for bringing the joy of live music to the community. We are especially interested in performing for community groups and underserved populations who may not usually have access to live music. This group is a true wind ensemble with one skilled musician per part.
Repertoire
We explore a mix of contemporary, pops, and classical music. We play grades 2-4 level music. Go to the bottom of this page for a list of some pieces we have played in the past.
Instrumentation
Since our structure is one of a true wind ensemble, we generally have 1-2 players per part.
We are always looking for musicians who can play the following instruments:
- Piccolo and flute
- Clarinet (all types)
- Oboe
- Bassoon
- Saxophone (all types)
- Trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn
- Horn
- Trombone (tenor and bass)
- Euphonium, baritone
- Tuba
- String bass
- Percussion
We also welcome any uncommon wind instruments.
Rehearsals and Performances
Rehearsals are every other Wednesday from 7-9pm ET in the Northshore area of Chattanooga. Our current venue doesn’t provide music stands so you are required to bring your own. Our friends at Consistent-C and Giant Steps sell affordable music stands.
We have 3 seasons every year: September-November, January-March, June-August. We accept new musicians any time of year.
We like to perform at a variety of venues, for a variety of audiences: schools, nursing homes, community events, cultural centers, and more.
Currently, we have 2-3 performances a season. Each season ends with a concert, either solo with just our group or combined with another local music ensemble in the area.
Interested in playing with us?
We are always looking for new members and also guest musicians to play as substitutes! We do not discriminate based on age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, nationality, or religion.
You are a good fit for our group if you:
- Play at a solid high school or early-college level
- Feel comfortable holding your line in a small section
- Practice regularly
- Are somewhat decent at sight-reading
- Commit to showing up to rehearsals consistently
We don’t have a formal audition process. We will invite you to attend two rehearsals as a guest. If you are a good fit for the group, we will invite you to join us.
Since this group is 100% volunteer-based, we ask for a $25 contribution at the beginning of each season to help cover the cost of music, percussion equipment, and other group supplies.

Open-Door Rehearsal
Once a season, we host an “open-door rehearsal” where members are the community are welcome to play with us for the evening, regardless of their level of skill or experience. It is a one-night only event with no commitment required.
